lyrics

'Mary Martha'

You could touch her just by gazing in.
I know you know that scene.
C’mon, c’mon - the lightshow in an angel face -
You see her, you love her – become the beam.

You see that face, drink deep that taste.
You know she’s your’s so take her home.
And once there you’re free to tarry,
Forever and ever if it last you that long.

You see, Mary Martha is an Upsara.
That is, a beauty beyond compare,
Born here in the valley of the shadows,
Unless you consider the Tortoise and the Hare.

Waylaid by kith and wretched kin,
Ensnare teachers and every fool,
Taught but not to live and love
But to bend, pretend, follow every rule.

Oh, fie on the beat the hands they keep,
The doings I do, the plethora.
Though I was bold that time too young
To hold my Mary Martha, too old for Mary Martha.

And so the rains came and with them youth’s bane,
Minaret in our mind,
The bridge, the battle – all within,
Mary Martha never one to pine.

Well, she’s off to college and to wed
To a slow, led yo’ to dig a ho’
And she’s longing still for dawn to break,
Awaiting delight in her soul, awaiting daylight in her soul.

Oh, fire on the beat, the hands they keep upon the rhythm drums,
For I was not in time that time to catch my Mary Martha,
To hold my Mary Martha.

Break - “If I’d sent to you in there with an actual agenda, Lecter would have known it immediately. He would have toyed with you then turned to stone.” (from the movie ‘Silence Of The Lambs’)

Divorced and just died of course,
And came home to seek whomever,
Could help her find her way again,
That is, to the space wherein we all loved her.

And when dawn finally come fresh thunderheads arrived –
Canopy of the race that hailed her
And when me and mine spied her There
Upon a little ship I sailed to her.

We broke the spell of Mystic Rivers – endless waves that confuse.
So here now she’s living still embellish by the Moon
As in days of yore
When the cow jumped o’er
And the dish ran away with the spoon
And the little dog laughed to see such fun
For in the watery halls of Ulupi’s chateau,
Therein reign Arjuna.
